Canadian International School of Beijing
Summer Camp
British Model United Nations Dec. 08th - 10th

CISB Students participated in the second annual British Model United Nations held at the British School of Beijing, Shunyi campus from December 8th- 10th. Twelve CISB students participated in five committees: the Security Council, the General Assembly, the Environment Committee, the Human Rights Council, and the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). This year, three student officers were selected to help lead three of the five committees. Congratulations to: Ms. Sun Hsiao Yuan (Angel) for being selected as President of the Human Rights Council, Ms. Amy Zhang for being selected as Deputy Assistant for the General Assembly, and Mr. Brian Tham for being selected as Deputy Assistant President of the Security Council. All student leaders did an amazing job using the rules of procedure and ensuring a fair and balanced debate took place. Congratulations also to Angel Sun for contributing to an excellent closing ceremony by giving a speech that outlined the growth and achievement of the delegates in the Human Rights Committee. Congratulations Angel!

All students spoke and debated resolutions and amendments throughout the three-day event. The coaches, Ms. Angel Sun, Mr. Doige, and Mr. Harrold, were very impressed and proud of the enthusiasm and commitment displayed by our students, and also of their willingness to be risk-takers to speak and lead sessions to ensure their resolutions got passed. A notable mention was given to all students by their respective committee Presidents. Two notable mentions were directly made to Mr. Jaden Kim, who represented Russia in ECOSOC and Mr. Andy Kim, who represented Russia in the General Assembly, for the great improvement each made during the Conference.

Congratulations everyone!
