On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am very delighted to see that the Canadian International School of Beijing (CISB) has been growing very rapidly in the past 7 years. CISB was founded in the fall 2005 and officially opened in September 2006. The school is accredited by the New Brunswick Department of Education in Canada. The Canadian Diploma and transcript are recognized internationally. In addition, CISB is an IB World School offering the International Baccalaureate's Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma Programs (IBDP) at high school level. CISB is also a member of UNESCO Beijing Branch and ACAMIS.
As an educational institute, we take pride in offering a unique Canadian curriculum, and providing an international and qualified teaching team as well as a positive learning environment for our students.
CISB is the first school in Beijing, which incorporates Smartboard technology extensively in its teaching and learning activities. The technology gives the students and teachers the ability to interact simultaneously, thus facilitating and enhancing the learning process and knowledge base. CISB has also implemented a 1 on 1 Computer program for high school students thus making their learning more accessible and interactive.
CISB also provides ongoing professional development for teachers. The teachers continually revise and develop new lesson plans to meet the best academic goals. The students have achieved very good academic standings. Our Grade 12 graduating class has been admitted to top universities all around the world: New York University, Boston University, Queen’s University and much more… High School students from CISB were awarded Honor Roll certificates in the Euclid Mathematics Contest organized by the University of Waterloo. Elementary students placed in the top 3 when compared with New Brunswick students in Literacy and Numeracy.
Besides participating in various competitions in the city and national levels, the students also participated actively in community activities such as the Terry Fox Run and the Canada Day celebration. We are very proud of our Student Choir who took part in the Beijing Olympics Closing Ceremony.
Our student body represents more than 50 nationalities. The students mainly come from diplomatic and expatriate families. They range from toddlers to high school. With this solid foundation, we aim to make even greater achievements.
We look forward to welcoming your family to the Canadian International School of Beijing and hope you find your child’s studies with us rewarding.
