Montessori education is a complex philosophy involving psychology, educational theory, and instructional materials. The method of teaching aims for the fullest development of the whole child, ultimately preparing the child for life's many experiences. Our primary goal is to cultivate a child's desire and joy to learn.
CIS Montessori Kindergarten serves children from 18 months to 6 years old, using the philosophy and curriculum of Dr. Maria Montessori whose scientific observations have resulted in her educational approach.
The Montessori philosophy is based on a profound respect for each child as a unique human being. The school's peaceful and non-competitive atmosphere promotes strong moral character and human values.

Montessori Primary Education
Montessori created the primary curriculum for children 3 to 6 years of age after many years of scientific observation and work with children. As children have a natural attraction to beauty and an inner urge for practical knowledge, our beautiful, child-size, tailor-made classrooms will give the child great joy in learning and discovery. There are four general curriculum areas in the Prepared Environment for the child to explore daily:
- Practical Life: the skills of daily living-adaptation to the environment; acquisition of coordinated movement; development of the will, and independence
- Sensorial Area: exploring the world with all the senses
- Language Area: spoken and written language, reading, also including Zoology, Botany, Geography and Art
- Mathematics Area: Starting with the sensorial exploration as a concrete experience, and materializing the abstractions
Everything is presented gradually to the children who progress at their own pace according to their needs and when they are developmentally ready. Our teachers work with the children as individuals and each Montessori curriculum monitors the progress of every child. In the multi-age setting, the children learn from each other. Students can enjoy and learn to prepare the variety of food from East to West. There are daily outdoor activities and other programs such as music, art, cooking, gardening and social service.

Infant/Toddler Community Program
Dr. Montessori observed that when a child stands upright and walks, the child experiences a “second birth”. Children 18 months through 3 years are in a period of tremendous development and growth. Toddlers develop in movement, independence and self-help skills through practical life experiences (skills of daily living), which enhance their mobility, improve their gross and fine motor skills. There are few areas are used for movement, food preparation, and music; also there are areas for eye hand coordination, cognitive materials and the children size bathroom. Every one of these area materials is encourage to foster control and coordination of movement, communication and community. In this period, children develop most of their personality.
Language activities throughout the day are equally as important as the child is in his/her most “sensitive period” of language development. Vocabulary enrichment is developed through the use of “real” objects, songs, language matching cards, stories and conversations. There are outdoor activities during the day that promote gross motor, coordination and socialization development.
Our Staff
Our well-trained AMI(Association Montessori International) teachers, qualified Early Childhood Educators and assistants will take great care in providing a nurturing, loving, safe, and comfortable atmosphere.
Parent and Family Education
We strongly believe that parents play a critical role in their children’ education. Research shows that students learn more effectively and actively interested in education when their parents are involved in their school. We offer parent evening workshops, observation month, and parent/teacher conferences. We also make available workshops for family caregivers (Ayi, cook and driver) and family members (grandparents, uncles and aunties) so your entire family will be aware of and enhance what the child is learning at school.
