The Canadian International School of Beijing (CISB) continues to be a growing educational facility in Beijing. Using a Canadian curriculum, a dedicated staff of teachers and the latest in educational technology, this school has rapidly emerged into a leading educational institution in Beijing.  Even through the facility is only 3 years old; it has quickly grown from an initial population of 250 students to today, where there are over 600 students from over 40 countries.

Beginning with our Montessori program, we develop an interest in learning and the skills for successful human interaction.  Our Montessori classrooms are well equipped with age appropriate materials and equipment that allow our fully trained teachers to follow the world-renowned Montessori approach to learning.

The New Brunswick (Canada) curriculum that is used throughout the school is recognized universally for its quality, breadth and depth.  In the early years, this program provides an emphasis on basic skills, knowledge and attitudes that students will need for later success.  As the program moves into Middle School, the subject areas broaden to provide students with experiences in more curriculum areas and to introduce new interests.  In High School, the program begins to narrow once again as we prepare students to enter university studies.

This year we have introduced a pre-IB program.  The Canadian International School is a Candidate School for the International Baccalaureate (IB) program.  It is anticipated that we will become a full IB school, at the high school level, in time for next school year.  In the pre-IB program, grade 10 students do a more in-depth study in English, Math and Science.

Our teachers are all university trained and are well qualified to teach the grades/subjects they teach.  The staff is a wonderful blend of the experienced and the young.  The majority of our staff is recruited from Canada with a nice mix of teachers from Asia so that the best of both cultures are represented in our school.  Our teachers have a varied background in teaching with many teachers having taught in a number of different countries throughout the world. 

Every classroom in the school is equipped with Smart Board technology.  This technology allows teachers to create lessons that are highly interactive and bring all of the resources of the World Wide Web into the classroom.  At the High School level, students are expected to have their own Apple laptop that allows them to download lessons and activities directly from the SmartBoard.
 
Physically the school is extremely well equipped.  We have 3 Science Labs,  5 computer labs, a swimming pool,  soccer field, tennis courts, 2 gymnasiums, 2 Libraries and 2 theatres just to highlight a few of our facilities.
